MY PARISIAN VALENTINE'S WEEKEND ~ It's not hard to say: I love Paris! ~ FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13th I flew in on a particularly drizzling Friday evening to Charles De Gaulle and took the reb train into the city. After some dizzying trouble buying a ticket and the long ride in, I arrived at the Notre Dame Metro Station. Laurie Pimentel set us up at the beautiful Hotel D'Aubusson near La Seine so my walk from the station was a beautiful array of romantic lights. That night we went for cocktails at a bar once featured in Sex & the City called Kong not a far walk from the hotel followed by dinner at perfect French restaurant. After dinner, we pre-gamed at the hotel and went to a nightclub called "Titty Twister." It was a hilarious club with well dressed Parisians and only top of the shelf cocktails. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14th We started Saturday with hotel breakfast & a "French Revolution" tour that included Marie Antoinette's prison and an in depth look at Notre Dame. After our tour, we entertained a comedy show titled "How to be a Parisian in an Hour." It went through the various ways the citizens of Paris go about their lives from order food to hailing a cab. We had an incredible meal at Le Societe after the show and headed out for the night. We tried a new club that was underneath a bridge on the Seine, but after enough poor songs and 15 year olds, we decided to call an audible and return to "Titty Twister." SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15th Our final day in Paris, we headed to the city's edge to the Paris Flea Market. It was one of the most exquisite flea markets I've ever seen. There were dozens of stalls containing French antiques from chandeliers to ceramics. It was exciting to marvel at French history and design all in one place. After the flea market, we tracked down great pieces in the Lourve and made an all-important stop at Laduree for macaroons. Once the sun went down, we took a boat tour along the river and stopped at the Eiffel to see it glimmer up close one last time before we left. | "That Paris exists and anyone could choose to live anywhere else in the world will always be a mystery to me." |
